LISA BURKL
Lisa Burkl (b. 1967, Llanelli) is a mixed media artist specialising in glass, inspired by symbolism, iconography, colour, light, reflection, and projection. She explores the hidden language of cultural symbolism, using common imagery and abstraction to create poetic works that invite interaction and convey emotion on multiple levels.
Since qualifying in Architectural Glass in 1991, Lisa has designed and fabricated commissions, exhibited at venues including the 'National Waterfront Museum', Swansea and 'The Ffwrnes', Llanelli, and led workshops across schools, universities, galleries, and community spaces. A qualified teacher with a BA in Architectural Glass and a PGCE from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, she has collaborated widely on participatory art projects, often working with charities to support wellbeing through creativity.
She currently works from Ynysmeudwy in the Swansea Valley as an artist, visiting lecturer, and community art facilitator.
