Warm Spaces
Warm Spaces at Y Tŷ Celf - 20205/26
Across the winter period, Y Tŷ Celf provided a warm, inclusive, and creative environment through 37 workshops, generating 80 individual bookings across five regular strands designed to reach diverse groups:
-
Sunday Art Club for young people
-
Monday 6th Form Mentoring Group (Jan & Feb)
-
Tuesday General Public Art Class
-
Thursday Artist Support & Creative Space
-
Friday Llanelli Queer Club Collective (Nov & Dec)
Delivery Against Outputs
The programme successfully fulfilled its aims of providing accessible creative activity, reducing isolation, and supporting wellbeing during the winter months. Attendance levels, workshop variety, and participant progression all demonstrate strong alignment with the original goals. Some adjustment was made due to low attendance by specific groups to ensure value for money and a wider reach i.e LGBTQIA changed to 6th Form Mentoring.
Expanded Engagement Through Warm Spaces Funding
The Warm Spaces grant enabled deeper community reach and skill development:
-
80 individual bookings across the programmes
-
12 participants gained new skills in glass-working
-
8 participants learned pyrography and developed their artistic confidence.
-
9 freelance artists created and delivered new workshops, strengthening their practice and broadening their delivery skills & confidence to run private workshops.
-
3 participants progressed into volunteering roles, supporting freelance artists and contributing to the sustainability of the Creative Hub.
These outcomes show clear increased community involvement, and enhanced capacity within the Creative hub at Ty Celf.
Additional Impact Through Variation Funding
The variation grant supported an expanded International Women’s Day programme, delivering four workshops attended by 23 participants, each producing creative work and contributing to a celebratory community event.
Community Impact
Across all strands, the Creative Cwtch workshops provided vital winter support by offering space for:
-
Creative expression
-
Social connection
-
Emotional wellbeing
-
Sharing concerns in a safe, non-judgemental environment
Participant feedback:
“San Donlan” I have had the most amazing weekend and have learnt so much from these talented artists, I can’t thank you enough. In December I could barely leave the house and couldn’t’ imagine attending an event like this and producing a piece of art.”
This creative programme was particularly important during a period when isolation and financial pressures are heightened.
Artist & Workforce Development
The programme strengthened the local creative workforce by supporting:
-
9 freelance artists
-
4 session support workers
-
6th form students through mentoring with local artists
This investment created meaningful paid opportunities and nurtured future creative practitioners.
Legacy & Sustainability
Two new initiatives have emerged directly from the success of this funding:
-
Sunday Art Club, now continuing with parental financial contributions
-
6th Form Mentoring Programme, with further funding being sought for a new phase from September 2026.
These developments demonstrate community value, and the programme’s ability to contribute to long‑term, sustainable activity for Y Ty Celf.
